Cindy McCormick is no longer living in the Avondale neighborhood but is still heavily immersed in the community. While Cindy isn't living in the community any longer, it is where she grew up, and it will always be her home. Cindy volunteers in many aspects to help support those who live in the community. Cindy is a member and volunteer at the Avondale Methodist Church, which holds a special place in her heart. She shared that the church helped to save her life, and many others in the community as well. In her ethnography, she highlighted all of the aspects of Avondale that make it her home, with a specific focus on the Avondale Community Church, Sparky's Corner, and the Ross Community Center.
